Northwest Fire Weather Summary
Slightly stronger westerly winds are expected on Sunday east
of the Cascades and through the Columbia Gorge as another weak weather system
moves into Washington and Northern Oregon. This system will bring some light
rain to sections of Washington and Northern Oregon on Sunday but rainfall
totals are not expected to be heavy. Drier weather spreads across the region
from the west beginning on Monday and Tuesday.
Northwest Fire
Potential Summary
The cooling trend over the region is pushing fire danger
back down toward normal levels for late August. Increased general winds on
Sunday do not appear to be much of a factor for large fire initiation east of
the Cascades because of the higher humidity. Lighter winds will return to most
of the region beginning on Monday as a warming and drying trend begins but
there will be some exceptions. Check your NWS fire weather planning forecasts
carefully for local wind forecasts.
