DETAILS: The Josephine County
Sheriff’s Office is embedded in the Taylor Creek Fire Incident Management Team.
All evacuation level notifications are and must be authorized by the Josephine
County Sheriff who is advised by incident command on the situation and status
of fire activity.
Level I and II notifications are
being made through press release and the Citizen Alert system. When a Level III
evacuation is called for and authorized, citizens will be notified by Sheriff’s
Office Search and Rescue or other law enforcement personnel in person when
possible and a Citizen Alert will be sent out.
On Friday July 27th, some citizens in the Pickett Creek area were
notified by fire personnel who received rogue information of a Level III
evacuation. That evacuation level was not authorized and the Pickett Creek area
with the exception of the upper portions of West Pickett Creek Road remain on
Level II evacuation status “Be Ready”.
The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office will continue to monitor fire
activity with the management team and make notification changes only when
necessary.
