Heavy Smoke in Southwest Oregon

There is noticeably more smoke in the area today, with some areas varying between unhealthy and very unhealthy according air quality reports. If you must be out in the smoke, N95 face masks may provide some relief. The more fitted they are the better they filter out particulate. Unfortunately facial hair can impede the mask’s effectiveness but if it’s the only viable solution the mask may be better than nothing. Folks sensitive to smoke (lung and heart disease, pregnant women, elderly and children – it really is best that they get out of the smoke – either stay indoors or travel to a clean air area). If you must drive out in the smoke, drive safely with your lights on and be sure to have your cars ventilation system set to recirculate.
