UPDATE (@10:00pm): Those needing to evacuate animals can contact Linda Bacon with Southern Oregon Emergency Aid at 541-226-1124. Transportation and shelter for all types of animals will be offered free of charge.

UPDATE (@9:35pm): According to 911 Dispatch those affected by the current Hugo Road evacuations can to head to Ray's Food Place on Merlin Road, the shelter will be open at 11:30pm.

Just before 8 pm reports of a new fire near Hugo Road in Grants Pass were received. Rural Metro Fire is responding and coordinating initial attack. Air attack was on scene until the sunset. The fire is West of I-5, near 7251 Hugo Road. Structures are threatened and evacuations are under way, firefighters are going door to door. The fire is estimated to be 100 acres with torching and spotting. There is heavy smoke visible in the area.
