Overview:
Blacktail Fire On the Lewis and Clark
National Forest, Montana (9-15-17)
Fires across the northern Rocky Mountains have
received snow in the last two days. Rain
and snow above 5,500 feet are predicted for the Pacific Northwest beginning
Monday and Tuesday. This predicted
precipitation could begin to bring season ending weather events for fires in
Oregon and Washington.
The National Weather Service states, “A
developing low pressure system in the Gulf of Alaska will settle over the
Pacific Northwest next week. Expect much cooler temperatures and several rounds
of rain and snow in the high Cascades. Rain will begin Sunday afternoon and
continue at times through much of the week. Snow levels will be around 9000
feet Sunday then drop to 5000 to 6000 feet by Monday and remain near that level
through the week.”
